Edward Cameron knew how to play the part. He wore the medals. He joined the clubs. He even shared war stories.
But, now his former VFW members of Lake Wales Post 2420 are calling him a fraud.
That's because paperwork proves not only did Cameron not ever earn a Purple Heart, he never made it past basic training.
What adds to the frustration is Cameron's face is plastered on the side of a Polk County bus that honors heroes.
County Commissioner Melonie Bell had the bus pulled from the road Tuesday.
Next week artwork on the bus will be redone to include a true Purple Heart recipient.
