PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A J.W. Mitchell High School science teacher has been placed on administrative leave after allegations that she gave alcohol to underage students at a prom party.

Samantha Murchie is on leave pending the results of an investigation. Linda Cobb, spokesperson for Pasco County Schools, says further discipline could be recommended if charges are filed.

Eddie Daniels, with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, says Murchie provided alcohol to students at a prom party she attended. Approximately thirty students were at the party, Daniels says.

Charges have been referred to the State Attorney’s Office.

Daniels says another adult, Lynn Worker, is also under investigation. He says the party started at Worker's house and was broken up when a neighbor complained.

The party then moved to Murchie's home, Daniels told News Channel 8.

Worker is a former employee of J.W. Mitchell High School.
