Alps South presently has 120 employees and plans to increase staff as it launches its new products.

Alps South is launching a device called the i-force that is built into the prosthesis of new amputees. It communicates via a smart-phone app to the user and the certified prostheticist. The i-force puts out a computer graph to show how well the liner fits and helps to recommend sock and liner changes. Ultimately it prevents ill-fitting sockets and pressure related complications that are not easy to overcome especially for poor vascular users. These complications include pain, discomfort, blisters and bone problems.

Another product called the Neural Control Interface, is a liner with a sewn-sensor that picks up the neural signals at the muscle to help intuitively control the prosthesis. For example, it senses the flex of the triceps, and moves the prosthetic arm for stroke patients who have lost mobility.

The same technology can work with lower extremities, using calf sensors to allow a more natural movement of a prosthetic foot.

Other new products include a more comfortable c-pap mask, and a molded face mask to reduce swelling after face surgery.
