LAKELAND, FL (WFLA) -

A motorcyclist died in a two-vehicle crash at Old Dade City and Clayton roads in north Lakeland Sunday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

Nathan Colon, 38, of 107 Algonquin Trail in Mulberry, was riding a 2004 Honda motorcycle north on Old Dade City Road approaching Clayton Road about 5:15 p.m., authorities said.

At the same time, a 2005 Ford Excursion driven by Jaime Rivera, 42, of 5111 Clayton Road in Kathleen was headed southbound on Old Dade City Road.

The Excursion was attempting to make a left turn from Old Dade City Road to travel east on Clayton Road when it entered the path of the motorcycle, a Polk County Sheriff's Office news release states.

Colon, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle on impact, the release states. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rivera and the passengers in the Excursion, Ruth N. Rivera and Jayden Rivera, were all wearing seatbelts.

The intersection was closed for about four hours Sunday evening.

No criminal charges are anticipated, but the incident remains under investigation, the release states.
