TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Saturday morning Michelle DeJong will do something you would not expect from a woman fighting brain cancer. Despite being in the middle of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, Michelle will participate in a 5K race. The Miles for Moffitt race put on by Moffitt Cancer Center raises money to fight cancer.

Almost immediately after being diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer, Michelle’s husband Ryan organized a team to participate in the Miles for Moffitt race.

Money is still coming in but so far they have raised over $52,500. The money was raised by more than 300 runners who will participate alongside Michelle Saturday morning.

Each runner will wear specially designed ‘Fighter’ shirts, ‘Fighter’ temporary tattoos and ‘Team Michelle’ bracelets in support of Michelle.

Saturday at 9:00am, WFLA will interview Michelle right after she finishes her race live on News Channel 8 Today.
