ZEPHYRHILLS, FL (WFLA) -
Pasco County Sheriff's deputies have identified the woman who was found dead inside her burning Zephyrhills duplex early Friday morning.
Firefighters discovered the body of Tiffany Milam, 27, inside the duplex. Her boyfriend, Christopher Peterson, 31, and three people in the adjacent unit escaped from the blaze uninjured.
Pasco County Sheriff's deputies and Pasco Fire County Rescue crews responded to the fire at Raintree Apartments on State Road 54 in Zephyrhills at 1:45 a.m.When they arrived, the duplex was engulfed in flames. It took them about 20 minutes to get the fire under control.
"My nephew did the best he could to help everybody out, but it was so bad, because he just couldn't make it back in there. And I feel bad for the girl because she's a nice girl," said James Dickinson.
Dickinson claims he heard the couple fighting just 15-minutes before the fire started about being evicted.
Pasco County Sheriff's deputies arrested Peterson Friday morning for violating the terms of his pretrial release. Deputies say he was not supposed to have any contact with Milam. He was arrested earlier this month on a domestic violence charge. Investigators say Peterson was inside the home with Milam at the time of the fire and escaped.
The Medical Examiner is now working to determine how Milam died. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
Red Cross representatives are helping the surviving victims.
