Hernando County deputies are at the scene of a deputy-involved shooting.
Deputies responded to a call regarding a possible arson at a residence on California Street. A man called the Hernando County Sheriff's Office saying he was being evicted and was setting the residence on fire.
Initial reports indicate that, upon arrival, deputies were confronted by a male who was extremely aggressive and the situation escalated to the point deputies were forced to engage the suspect with deadly force, according to the HCSO.
The male has been airlifted to a trauma center with life threatening injuries, according to the HCSO.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) will review the use of deadly force and will now take over this investigation.
The incident is also under review by HCSO Internal Affairs.
