Law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty are being honored in Asheville.

The 2014 North Carolina Peace Officers Memorial Day Ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday in Asheville. The day is sponsored by the N.C. Department of Justice and is being held at Trinity Baptist Church.

Attorney General Roy Cooper will deliver welcoming remarks. This year's featured guest speaker is Buncombe County Sheriff Van Duncan.

The ceremony will recognize Asheville police officer Robert A. Bingaman, the one officer who died in the line of duty since last year's ceremony.
