CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - Tuesday, May 6th, is election day.

"We've probably put out 1,500 yard signs I would imagine," said Keith Bowers.

Bowers is a candidate for Carter County General Sessions Court Judge. He's put election signs in several yards, hoping to get your attention.

Last week Bowers' and Sheriff Chris Mathes' signs got the attention of three people, including Crystal and Michael Bartlett.

"Photographs were posted on Facebook, a lot of them had been making some lewd gestures while posing with the signs, which in of itself is not a crime," said Lt. Mike Little.

However, along with the pictures, Crystal also posted this, saying, "so as I walked I pulled a lot of signs outta the ground, just on G.P...& tossed them b******."

While that post has since been deleted, Crystal could still be arrested for vandalism.

"We did observe some signs in that area that had been pulled up and had been thrown into the roadway," said Lt. Little.

While some ended up in the street, Bowers still has plenty more yard signs.

"Every candidate has suffered from this at one point or another," said Bowers. "To hear people just go out and intentionally, for no other reason, for the fun of it, to destroy parts of peoples campaigns is just a pretty bad thing, I think."

Deputies want to talk with Crystal, but even without a statement, her Facebook post could be enough to prosecute, according to investigators.

"They want to post every aspect of their life and they're probably not always very conscious about the things they're posting. So, it's a very valuable tool for us," said Lt. Little.

Both Crystal and Michael have active arrest warrants for violating probation.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Crystal and or Michael Bartlett call the Carter County Sheriff's Office at 423.543.2211.
