NEW TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

A female trapper came to the rescue Thursday when a 6-foot-long alligator decided to take a stroll in a New Tampa yard.

Trapper Julie Harter captured the gator that was initially spotted on the porch of a home at the Pebble Creek Country Club.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies responded to the call.

Harter lassoed the gator in the front yard of a home as the deputies watched.

She then let the deputies pet the gator, which measured 6 feet and 7 inches.

Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission Spokesperson Gary Morse says the gator will likely be destroyed.

Larry Feldman provided the photos of the gator capture.
