That's when his cruiser was struck by a 2000 Ford Focus. Elexa Clark, 19, was driving it; she was going south on US 19.

Clark was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Deputy Lundy wasn't hurt.

According to the PCSO Major Accident Investigation Team, neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the crash. They continue to investigate.
