POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Rarely do you hear a coach boasting after a loss. But rarely do you see what Florida Southern College’s softball team did at Saturday's game.

It's the kind of move that had both sides of the stands cheering for the same reason.

The Moccasins help Eckerd College win the game by carrying their opponent home.

It’s a homerun with heart.

“You can win or lose but you can still be a good sport and that's what it should be about anyway

Florida Southern College softball coach Chris Belloto painted the scene Saturday that started with a pitch that had a little too much play and ended with that pitcher--Chelsie Oglevie and second baseman Leah Pemberton helping the batter bring in the winning points for Eckerd College.

“We ended up losing the game,” Belloto said. “But, literally, as she was limping down the first base line my players saw her and she was crying and limping and they went over to her- grabbed her under the arms and actually carried her and let her feet touch down on each base so that she got credit for the homerun,” she said.

After 33 years of coaching softball here---this is the kind of play that shows her---she must be doing something right.

“I think Saturday really showed the kind of character we have on the team with these kids,” she said.

The video of that winning homerun is now going viral and the girls are getting a lot of excitement about that, Belloto said. Division II softball doesn't typically get a lot of attention, Belloto said, and she's sure glad it's for something like this.
