PALMETTO, FL (WFLA) -

Manatee County Sheriff Deputies say the body of a woman was found alongside U.S. 41 N. in Palmetto on Tuesday evening.

Investigators say the body of 62-year-old Carolyn West of Palmetto was found by two people who were walking in the area of the 5800 block of U.S. 41 N. at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies say the body was found beneath an overpass of railroad tracks.

Manatee County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer David Bristow says detectives do not know what led to the woman's death or if foul play was involved. He says an autopsy will be performed to determine her cause of death.
