POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - The Polk County School Board is scheduled to vote Tuesday on the termination of a teacher accused of a sexual relationship with a student.

The school board work session will be held Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. where the termination of 29-year-old Jennifer Fichter of Lakeland will be discussed.

Polk County Schools PIO says Superintendent Kathryn LeRoy recommends that Fichter be fired.

The official vote on her firing will come this evening at 5 p.m.

Fichter was arrested this week, charged with numerous counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor in Polk and Hillsborough Counties.

The charges stem from allegations Fichter had sex with a 17-year-old student 20-30 times while she worked as an English teacher at Central Florida Aerospace Academy in Polk County. She claims she loves the student.

According to investigators, some of the encounters happened in a truck at a Polk County parking lot and some of the encounters happened in Hillsborough County.
