Deputy struck during driver training course in Manatee

BRADENTON, FL (WFLA) - A deputy was struck during a driver training exercise being instructed by Manatee County Sheriff's Office's training department.

The Sheriff's Office says during the evasive exercise, Deputy Darral Davis made an early turn into another lane when he struck the driving instructor, Deputy Charles Wise.

Wise was standing just off the course when he was hit by the vehicle traveling 25-30 miles per hour, the Sheriff's Office says.

EMS responded and transported Wise to Blake Hospital for his injuries and was released.
