THONOTOSASSA, FL (WFLA) - Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol are asking for the public’s assistance in tracking down three drivers who fled a fatal crash early Saturday morning on Fowler Ave.

The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. just east of Interstate 75. A 30-year-old Thonotosassa man died at the scene.

According to a FHP report Amari A. Williams was traveling west on Fowler in his 1985 Camaro when it passed another vehicle and then collided with it. The impact caused William’s vehicle to rotate clockwise before turning over.

Two other drivers stopped to help and witnessed two other vehicle strike Williams. They too failed to stop.

A few hours after the crash a 1997 GMC pick-up truck was found abandoned off Fletcher Ave. Investigators say the truck was the first vehicle struck by Williams Camaro. The driver of the vehicle is not known at this time.

One of the witnesses told investigators that one of the vehicles that struck the deceased after the initial crash was a white Sports Utility Vehicle. Troopers spent several hours at the scene gathering evidence and information.
