Below-average hurricane season predicted for 2014

Posted: Updated:

Florida could have a quiet hurricane season this year.

Colorado State University meteorologists Philip Klotzbach and William Gray released their predictions on Thursday.

They predicted nine tropical storms will form, but only three will become hurricanes.

Klotzbach says a predicted El Nino is one factor that led to their lower-than-average forecast.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.
