Tampa gas station owner witnesses shooting

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - Tampa Police are investigating a shooting that happened sometime before 8:49 a.m. Wednesday at the Marathon gas station located at 3745 N. 50th St.

Investigators say Gregory Vaulx, 28, was shot by Kenneth Mosley, 58. Vaulx was trying to leave the gas station, but Mosley, who was on a bicycle, was blocking the door from outside. The men got into a fight in the parking lot and Vaulx was shot in the hand.

TPD Spokesperson Laura McElroy said that Mosley had a gun with him, but it is not known if he deliberately fired, or if it went off during the scuffle.

Mosley's ankle was broken during the fight. Both men were transported to a hospital.

Police say they knew each other and both have felony records.

Detectives are reviewing the gas station's surveillance video.

WFLA News Channel 8 spoke to station owner Hassan Hassan, who said that customers have argued at the gas station before. Last week, he had to call police when customers were fighting.
