A homeless mom charged with child abuse for allegedly leaving her two young children in a hot car while she went on a job interview pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Tuesday.
Shanesha Taylor, 35, has also garnered quite a following. More than $96,000 in donations has poured in to try and help the Arizona mother of a 2-year-old and 6-month-old. It's all through a website called youcaring.com. Amanda Bishop created the post that reads in part: "There are some of us that feel that Shanesha was in an unfortunate situation that sadly an economy like ours is putting many single mother's in a position to make terrible mistakes like this. This fund raiser was set up in an effort to help Shanesha and her situation. Please understand that I am flooded with emails everyday from people asking questions and it is so hard to keep up with all of them. I'm just a 24 year old girl struggling like Shanesha who set this up. I never expected it to blow up this big but I'm still oh so glad it did. "
Taylor was arrested March 20 after a witness heard a child crying inside a Dodge Durango. Scottsdale Police found the car parked directly in the sun with the windows slightly open.
Officers said Taylor returned about 45 minutes after they were informed of the situation. She told them she didn't have anyone to watch her kids.
Visibly upset, her mug shot was taken with tears streaming down her face. After multiple media outlets published her photo, the support starting pouring in for Taylor, who some say is trying to better her situation.
Her children have been placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.
