CITRUS COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office suspended their search Tuesday night for a missing plane that possibly went down in the Withlacoochee Forest over the weekend.

The search will resume Wednesday morning.

The plane departed from the Dunnellon Airport in Marion County on Saturday, April 5th, and never arrived at its destination in Zephyrhills.

The pilot, 74-year-old Theodore Weiss of Zephyrhills, has not been seen since. He was reported missing to the Marion County Sheriff's Office on Monday afternoon.

The plane is described as a white experimental type, single-engine, two-seat, low wing aircraft with a green stripe and N229P on the tail section.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office, Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. Air Force have joined forces in the search for this missing plane.

The Sheriff's Office says there are no organized search efforts for volunteers, however if people would like to search on their own, and do find anything, to call 911 immediately.
