TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - A single-car crash near Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County left one person dead Monday morning, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

The crash happened at 7:09 a.m. Monday. Troopers said a 2002 Chevy Suburban was going north on the Interstate 75 access road from US Highway 301. The driver lost control of the car, traveled to the north shoulder of the road and further to the grass median dividing I-75 and the access road. The car hit a concrete pillar supporting State Road 618 overpass.

Troopers are investigating what had caused the driver to lose control of the car. They confirmed the driver died at the scene. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.

Officials haven't released the victim's name yet.
