Some folks who live in an apartment complex in one Mt. Pleasant neighborhood are on alert after word of a venomous snake that could be on the loose.
The Gaboon Viper is one of the most venomous snakes in the world. Friday, managers at Harbor Pointe Apartment Complex discovered a snake skin believed to be that of a Gaboon Viper.
The snake is estimated to be about three-and-a-half to four-feet long. Raymond Convigton, an animal removal expert told News2 in Charleston while the threat of the snake is around, folks need to be more cautious than normal.
He said to avoid high densely-forest areas. This type of snake is known for it's ambush-style of attack. In fact, these snakes can sit for days in the same spot, waiting for its prey.
Gaboon vipers like warmer places, so when the temperatures cool down they'll seek warmer spots such as under leaves or near homes.
