Fantasy of Flight soars on final day

Posted: Updated:
POLK CITY, FL (WFLA) -

Sunday marked the last day of Fantasy of Flight, an attraction centered on aviation that's made Polk City home for the past 18 years.

The founder, Kermit Weeks, said the attraction would have to double it's foot traffic or double admission price just to break even.

He said the time has come to change directions and focus on a different business model.

About 30 employees will lose their jobs as a result of the closure.

The facility will remain open for corporate and private events. Weeks plans to open as more of a "theme park" attraction "within the decade."
