TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

The 17th annual Festa Italiana is officially underway. The Italian Club of Tampa holds this annual multi-day event to honor Italian culture and heritage.

Over 35 of Tampa Bay's top restaurants and catering companies will serve delicious dishes and tastings during the festival, including Alessi's Bakery. The restaurant is bringing a sweet treat for people attending the festival.

"We have had volunteers from the Italian Club to help us get traditional Italian cookies ready for the weekend's big event," said Tiffany Pennington, the general manager of Alessi's Bakery.

The pastry new to Tampa is a Bombilini, or an Italian doughnut, only found in Italy and New York City. You can try it at Alessi's.

"They are filled with Bavarian creams, preserves, fruit, we have Nutella, we have caramel, chocolate. Anything that you can imagine," Pennington said.
