WINTER HAVEN, FL (WFLA) -

An 84-year-old woman crashed into a Winter Haven CVS drug store, and missed hitting an 80-year-old shopper by just inches.

The woman who was almost hit at the store on State Road 54 is actually smiling and laughing about it.

Adrienne Watkins, 80, says it was absolutely accidental and has no hard feelings toward the driver. She’s just mad at herself for shopping that candy bar aisle -- she says she knew she shouldn't have been there.

“I was standing looking at some candy which I shouldn't have been. I guess God was telling me, ‘don't do it’,” Watkins said.

“And there's nothing we can do about it,” Watkins continued. “God was good to both of us.”

Winter Haven police cited the 84-year-old woman behind the wheel, Margaret Underwood, for improper backing and careless driving.

They say she struck a car while backing out of the CVS Wednesday afternoon. When she put her car in drive, she plowed through the front of the store, missing Adrienne Watkins by just inches.

The driver is fine and so is Watkins. She suffered only minor injuries on her legs from the door that came off a drink machine. Watkins even questioned whether to see a doctor.

“I'm 80 years old and I thought I better do something just in case,” she laughed.

A witness said the car cleared right through aisle one and came to a rest in aisle two. It caused more than $65,000 in damages to the store.
