PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - Two people were airlifted to hospitals Thursday afternoon after a school bus and a car collided on State Road 56 at Interstate 75 in Pasco County.

The persons injured were in the car. A Pasco County Schools spokesperson says four Wesley Chapel High School students between the ages of 16 and 19 were on the bus at the time of the crash.

The students sustained minor injuries and were released from the scene to their parents.

The vehicles collided when the car was taking a left hand turn into the entrance ramp of I-75 and turned out in front of the school bus. The front of the bus collided with the passenger side of the car.

Traffic on State Road 56 is backed up because of the crash. The roadway is now open.

The names and conditions of those injured have not been released.
