DURHAM, N.C. -

Police say a suitcase containing clothes and a suitcase sparked a high alert in downtown Durham Monday afternoon.

Durham police officers and the bomb unit from the Durham County Sheriff's Office responded to the 400 block of West Chapel Hill Street Monday afternoon after a suspicious package was reported in the area.

Duke Street was closed between Jackson Street and Chapel Hill Street and Chapel Hill Street was closed between Willard Street and Gregson Street for about an hour and a half while the incident was investigated.

An all-clear was issued 4:15 p.m. and traffic in the affected areas resumed as normal.
