Oprah Winfrey's former stepmom given 60 days to vacate Franklin home

Oprah Winfrey's former stepmother has been given 60 days to vacate her Franklin home because she refuses to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Oprah purchased the $1.4 million home in the LaurelBrooke subdivision off Sneed Road for Barbara and Vernon Winfrey after the two married in 2001.

The couple divorced last year after Vernon filed for divorce in 2012.

As part of the divorce agreement, Barbara was offered a home in Davidson County as long as she signed a confidentiality agreement about Oprah.

Barbara, however, has refused to sign it.

"She knows I know the story," Barbara said. "And to set me out now, why shouldn't I just tell my story?"

She continued, "You're a billionaire. God blessed you to be a billionaire and this is what you do? [This home] it's where I lived for 13 years. That's where my memories are.

On Monday, a spokesperson for Oprah Winfrey sent News 2 a statement regarding the property dispute that read,  "As part of the divorce proceedings, Barbara Winfrey was offered the Chateaue Valley home free and clear to live with her family and she chose not to accept it.  The next offer was to sell the residence on Willowbrooke Circle and split the proceeds equally, which she also turned down.  After several requests to voluntarily vacate the property at Willowbrooke Circle, the appropriate paperwork has been filed to have her vacate the property.  A 60 day extension has been granted."

That 60 day extension was granted at General Sessions Court Judge Ernie Williams' suggestion.
