ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) -

A crafty volunteer is bringing the community together and helping to brighten the Ronald McDonald House of Tampa Bay.

Brenda Schlechter teaches visitors and volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House how to make art quilts. Every person that helps make quilts gets to have their name sewn in them. The quilts are then used to decorate the rooms at the Ronald McDonald House.

"People just gravitate towards her," said Alison Barrick, Marketing and Communications Manager at RMH.

"It is a beautiful process seeing Brenda with the families, " said Lisa Suprenand, Director of Programs and Facilities at RMH.

"The families love it and they get to leave their mark on the quilt which will be hung in their house. RMH is the house that love built. Brenda is building quilts of love with our families. It’s more fabulous than I could have ever imagined," she added.

Brenda is planning on making enough quilts to hang in all 34 bedrooms at one of the St. Pete locations.

The Ronald McDonald House provides families with a place to stay instead of a hotel while their children are being treated at nearby hospitals.

RMH charities has three locations in the Tampa Bay area, three in St. Pete and one in Tampa.
