Police: 3-year-old girl drowns at Raleigh apartment

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Raleigh police confirmed a 3-year-old girl drowned in a bathtub Thursday afternoon at an apartment on St. Giles Street.

Police said Skye McLeod and a younger sibling were left alone briefly in a tub. McLeod was found unconscious when the caregiver returned to the bathroom, police said.

The girl was transported to Rex Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

The complex is off Glenwood Avenue near Duraleigh Road.
