Time Warner is closing its Tampa Service Center.
The shared services office was announced in 2011, and was expected to bring hundreds of jobs to the Bay area over five years.
When the center was announced, the CFO of Time Warner says the company chose Florida because of its low-cost workforce, and constant wooing by Governor Rick Scott.
Time Warner issued the following statement Wednesday night: “Due to changes in the company’s business needs including the spin-off of Time Inc., we will be closing the Tampa Service Center. The decision to discontinue our operations in Tampa and Hillsborough County was a difficult one and does not reflect in any way the exceptional talent base in the area and we have greatly appreciated the openness and support of the local leadership. We are always open to growth opportunities in Florida should our business needs change again.”
