RALEIGH, N.C. -

Josh Bennett, aka Kid Alien, is a vocalist, composer, producer and DJ who now resides in San Francisco. The Robbinsville, N.C., native left the state in 2008 after graduating from Wake Forest University to pursue a career in music.

From time to time he makes returns to the state to reconnect with his roots and with those who supported him in the pursuit of his dream.

"I love being able to keep the connection with my North Carolina family and friends strong through such a way as performing," Bennett said.

The continuous love and support he receives from family and friends is what sustains both his drive and commitment to his music.

"I wouldn't have gotten anywhere without the support of my family and friends. They believe in me no matter what," he said. "I'd like to mention my parents, who helped me so much when I was a struggling artist in New York with expensive rent and very little local support."

Kid Alien's live vocal performances are what set him apart from other DJs and producers. He's been involved in a variety of music over the years -- from pop and R&B to gospel -- giving him a unique style that he has adapted to the electronic music art form.

He describes his music as "vocally driven, uplifting, high-energy, hard and booty-shaking. Like if Armin van Buuren, Diplo and Prince could somehow have a love-child."

When he's not creating music, he serves as editor and chief content officer for the LessThan3 music blog, one of the top music blogs in the country dedicated to the electronic music scene.

Kid Alien has performed at Mosaic before and owner Steven Feinberg is looking forward to his return.

"I'm very excited to have Kid Alien return to Mosaic," Feinberg said. "It's really nice to have someone with local roots come back to perform in the area, especially someone who has made a big impact on the music industry."
