A man detectives say has been on the run for decades is now back behind bars.
James Dixon, aka James Delong, was convicted of armed robbery in Michigan before 1985. When he was released from prison and put on parole, investigators say he fled the state.
Dixon has two twin brothers: Gary and Larry Dixon. Investigators say he may have used at least one of his brothers’ identities in the past.
Detectives got a tip that Dixon was living in Spring Hill. They pulled over a car registered to Gary Dixon. The driver identified himself as Gary, but when a detective called out “Hey James”, the man quickly turned his head and looked.
Knowing he was busted, James Dixon confessed his real name, and told detectives he ran from Michigan because the state would not transfer his probation to Florida, where his family lives.
Dixon is charged as a fugitive from justice, and is being held without bond. He will be extradited back to Michigan.
