Single-car crash in Tampa kills woman

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - A woman died after a one-car crash in Tampa early Tuesday morning, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

HCSO deputies said the crash happened around 5:36 a.m. Desiree R. Cruz, 31, lost control of her 1997 Dodge Caravan going north on Falkenburg Road near Windhorst Road.

She hit an 8-inch median and the car flipped over on its roof about 200 feet north of the intersection on the east shoulder after striking the Tax Collector's sign.

Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene, according to HCSO. Deputies investigated the crash. The road reopened a few hours after the crash.
