HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. -

The Hillsborough Police Department is seeking the public's help to solve two unsolved murders that took place in 2005 and 2007.

"The victims and their families are not forgotten, and our investigators continue to pursue justice for them," Hillsborough Police Chief Duane Hampton said in a written release.

The first murder took place on Nov. 27, 2005. Hillsborough police said 30-year-old Jeffrey Duke, or Durham, was shot in the 500 block of Homemont Avenue. Police found Duke lying by the side of the road with gunshot wounds. Duke was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have identified a person of interest in Duke's murder and are looking for additional information.

The second unsolved murder took place around 6 a.m. on Jan. 7, 2007. Police said Jaquienton Sellars, 21, was shot at his home at 145 Hayes St. Officers found Sellars bleeding on the floor and he was taken to Duke University Hospital where he later died.

Police believe the Jan. 7 incident was a home invasion and robbery. Police said Sellars exchanged gunfire with the intruder or intruders.

Anyone with information about either of these two murders is asked to call the Hillsborough Police Department.
