Bradenton man in jail after punching his 65-year-old roommate

BRADENTON, FL (WFLA) - Bradenton roommates had an early Monday morning argument over a female friend that escalated to a physical fight, according to Manatee County Sheriff's Office. The younger man ended up in jail for an aggravated battery on an elderly, deputies said.

According to the MCSO report, Jorge M. Fernandez, 65, and Juan R. Alfaro-Conde, 49, had a woman over for a visit in their home at 3715 14th St. West in Bradenton when a fight broke out over her between them around 4 a.m. Monday.

Alfaro-Conde punched Fernandez in the chest and in the face, according to the report; Fernandez lost consciousness, he told deputies. When he woke up, he called 911.

When deputies arrived, they questioned both men. Alfaro-Conde denied any involvement in the incident but Fernandez identified him as a suspect, deputies said. Deputies arrested Alfaro-Conde for an aggravated battery on a person 65  years old and took him to jail.

Paramedics took Fernandez to a hospital with broken ribs and possibly broken jaw. Deputies haven't rele4ased any details on how severe his injuries are.
