Police arrest Tampa bank robbery suspects

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Two men charged in connection with a South Tampa bank robbery may be suspects in at least one other robbery, Tampa Police say.

Investigators say two men committed a “take-over style robbery” at the Fifth Third Bank at 1901 West Swann Avenue at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. One of the two masked men carried a Mac-10 style firearm, and police say they got away in a stolen vehicle.

Officers identified a suspect, and arrested Kevrick Brown and Erskine Mckinley. During a search of the home, a Mac-10 style firearm was found, along with clothes, gloves, and a bag used in the robbery.

Investigators say this robbery appears to be related to the December robbery of a BB&T bank at Gandy Boulevard and Himes Avenue.

Brown and Mckinley are charged with armed robbery with a firearm. Both men have criminal histories.

Police are now working to identify a possible getaway driver.
