Posted: Updated:

Caleb Elder used to work at Daylight Donuts in Wake Forest until he found out he passed the audition rounds on NBC's hit show "The Voice".

Friends like Jeremy Allred said he's not surprised.

"He's very talented," Allred said of Elder.

Allred said Elder used to study audio engineering at the Living Arts College in Wake Forest. They also collaborated together on many songs.

"I can't wait to see how far he goes," Allred said.

Jeremy Allred's mother Kristin said, "Caleb's unique. There's a lot of talent out there, but he's got a unique voice, unique personality. He's just really likable and passionate."

Denise Lull owns Daylight Donuts and said she is excited for Elder.

"I talked to him last night and he was very emotional and excited. So full of life and friendly and everything," Lull said.

Caleb Elder was picked to be on Adam Levine's team on Tuesday. Elder performed "Groove Me" for the judges panel.

Allred says Elder currently lives in Raleigh, but his family lives in Virginia.

You can watch "The Voice" Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. on WNCN.
