TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - Authorities in Cullman (Alabama) County are literally digging for clues in the 2009 disappearance of a woman with ties to the Bay Area.

Tabitha Lynn Franklin, 28, was last seen on August 8, 2009. Family members told investigators that Franklin was traveling to Hueytown, Alabama to meet up with them but she never showed.

Following a three-month investigation, Detectives with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Department obtained a search warrant for a residence located off County Road 1136. Two people who live there were arrested Thursday on drug charges.

Franklin’s mother Robin Fernald lives in Hillsborough County and works for a dry cleaner in downtown Tampa. She is hoping the search leads to answers in her daughter’s disappearance.

“We’ve been working this for over three years now,” says Fernald. “I’ve been suspicious of that location since the beginning. From what we understand they are conducting tests on some concrete from the porch that they pulled up on Friday.”

David Talmage Floyd, 49, and Christina Johnson Moore, 36, were booked into the Cullman County Jail and released after posting a bond of $6,000 each. Both suspects are facing possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

Cullman County Sheriff Mike Rainey says Floyd and Moore are not currently tied to the investigation into Franklin’s disappearance.

Witnesses say the missing woman was living in the home where the search is being conducted around the time she vanished. Franklin stands 5’2’’ tall, weighs 140 pounds and had blonde hair at the time of disappearance.

She left behind three children.

"The Cullman County Sheriff's Office has followed numerous leads and questioned many people in Cullman and surrounding counties in our efforts to resolve this case," Sheriff Rainey said.

"This particular lead is part of a three-month-long investigation. Investigators received new information which led to enough probable cause to obtain a search warrant for this location. Investigators are in the process of excavating the front porch of this location looking for any evidence connected to the disappearance of Tabitha Franklin. We're hopeful we'll be able to get some answers."
