JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

The Johnson City Police Department has arrested a second person involved in a theft at a local jewelry store in January.

According to the release, officers arrested Hickory, N.C. resident Paul Robert Perkins, 3413 10th Ave., Wednesday, following an investigation into a jewelry theft at Dempsey’s Jewelers on Jan. 29.

Paul Perkins was reportedly accused of helping with the theft where Kingsley Michelle Perkins, also of North Carolina, reportedly stole more than $93,000 worth of jewelry from the store.

He was originally arrested in North Carolina and was extradited back to Tennessee to face the theft charges.

Paul Perkins was charged with theft of property over $60,000 and was taken to the Washington County Detention Center.

He was being held on a $100,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

According to the news release, an investigation is ongoing and an additional arrest is pending.
