Wounded Warriors turn to athletics at MacDill

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - Wounded Warriors in the Athletic Reconditioning Program are training in Tampa this week for the potential to go to the Warrior Games.

U.S. Special Operations Command Care Coalition is hosting 55 wounded service members to participate in a week-long training event at the MacDill AFB Fitness Center.

Participants from all military branches will participate in archery, track and field, archery, shooting and swimming competitions.

At the end of the week, the coaches and staff will select the members of Team SOCOM who will attend the 2014 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs.

The WWARP is designed to assists with the physical and mental recovery processes and works to improve the overall health and welfare of wounded, ill, or injured Special Operations Forces through exposure to adaptive team sports and recreation. This commitment stems from the Special Operations Forces Ethos to leave no one behind.
