SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - A 7-year-old Sullivan County boy, diagnosed with primary pulmonary hypertension, was reported to be doing well following his surgery Wednesday morning.

Weston Keeton, who had a heart and double lung transplant back in Decemeber, had another surgery Wednesday to repair or replace a leaky valve.

Julie Keeton, Weston's mother, wrote to News Channel 11 Wednesday afternoon and said that Weston was doing well after his surgery and said the surgery team remains "cautiously optimistic."

"We know the first 48-hours are the most challenging, so his team is working hard to keep him stable," Julie Keeton said. "We appreciate the thoughts and prayers so much today. Everyone here has been overwhelmed with all of the pictures and notes people have posted supporting Weston. It is so awesome to see such an outpouring of love for him and our family."

She said many people were asking about Weston's mailing address at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and said the address is:

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, 3401 Civic Center Blvd., Weston Keeton, 6 South, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

Previous story:

A 7-year-old Sullivan County boy, diagnosed with primary pulmonary hypertension, was reportedly undergoing surgery Wednesday.

According to Weston’s Warriors Facebook page, Weston Keeton, has been at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia since July 2011 where he spent two years on a waiting list for a heart and double lung transplant.

Weston’s underwent the transplant in December, but the valve from that surgery reportedly started to leak. Wednesday’s surgery was necessary so that Weston’s doctors could either repair or replace the valve.

The surgery is a procedure that is relatively unheard of, but what doctors say is necessary for Weston’s recovery.

According to Weston's Warriors Facebook page, Weston was reportedly finished with surgery around 1 p.m. Wednesday and was doing well.

Family members said they would be able to see him soon and thanked the followers of the Facebook page for their prayers and support.

On Wednesday, residents around the Tri-Cities wore red to show their support for Weston. News Channel 11 viewers have also been sending in their individual photos sporting the color red for Weston on WJHL’s Facebook page.

Julie Keeton, Weston’s mother, said the 7-year-old took the surgery news like “a rock star” and said the family has enjoyed seeing everyone wearing red in support of Weston.
