Teen stabbed during fight at Seffner middle school

Posted: Updated:

A 15-year-old Jennings Middle School student is accused of stabbing another student Wednesday morning after the teens got off their school bus.

A Hillsborough County Schools spokesperson says two boys got into an an argument on the school bus. After the bus arrived at the school and the boys got off the school bus, they began fighting and the 8th grade boy stabbed the 7th grade boy with a steak knife. School staff members broke up the fight.

The victim suffered a cut to his side that was about one-inch deep. The teen refused medical treatment, however the school called for an ambulance out of an abundance of caution, according to the spokesperson.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says the 8th grade boy was charged with aggravated battery with deadly weapon and possession of a weapon on school grounds.

The victim, who is 14-years-old, was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The school was not put on lockdown and no other injuries were reported.
