BIG STONE GAP, VA (WJHL) - A Virginia town, in the midst of a revitalization, has lost another historic building.

Monday night, NAPA Auto Parts, in Big Stone Gap, caught on fire around 5:00 P.M.  Firefighters didn't leave the scene until 8:30, Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded hours later after flames reached paint and aerosols causing small explosions and big flames.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to just NAPA Auto Parts, which is a total loss. A building next door did receive water damage and another received heat damage.

Three other buildings, in downtown Big Stone Gap, were destroyed by a fire back in October. Town Manager Pat Murphy said which both fires have now set them back on their revitalization project.

"We're in the later stages of our downtown work and we had hoped, like I said, these two buildings right here would be involved in the façade program. This is a setback because you're loosing really a landmark building," said Murphy.

The caused the fire is still unknown, but it is still under investigation.
