UNC's Paige, Duke's Parker and Hood named Academic All-ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. -

A total of 17 players were named to the All-ACC Academic'smen's basketball team Tuesday.

North Carolina's Marcus Paige, a four-time ACCPlayer of the Week, was named to the team along with Duke's Jabari Parker,Rodney Hood and Amile Jefferson.

Raleigh native Josh Newkirk of Pittsburgh was also named tothe team.

Paige's 16.9 points per game for the Tar Heels ranks himsixth in the conference and his .880 free throw percentage has him rankedsecond in the newly expanded league.

Parker has scored in double figures in all but two games thisseason for the Blue Devils. Hood ranks eighth in scoring in the league with16.3 points per game for the fourth ranked Devils.  

A student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade pointaverage for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative averageduring his academic career in order to be eligible for consideration, accordingto the ACC.
