ST PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) -

St. Petersburg Police are asking for help identifying a suspect who they've nicknamed the "Purple Burglar."

Investigators say the burglary suspect was clad in purple when he and an accomplice broke into two homes on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Surveillance cameras recorded images of the man ringing the doorbell of one home and then breaking into a rear window of another home.

Detectives say at about 7:45 a.m., the pair broke into a home at 5591 16th Ave N. and took several items, including a revolver.

On the same day at 12:45 p.m. the suspects broke into a rear bedroom window of a nearby home located at 5612 17th Ave N. Electronic items were taken during this burglary, according to detectives.

A surveillance camera also recorded images of the suspects leaving the scene in a silver sedan, possibly a 2006 to 2011 silver, 4-door, Toyota Camry.

Police did not released information about what the second suspect was wearing.

Melanie and Jeffrey Cornwell should have been getting a tax break for years on part of the homestead property in Dunedin they call their "little piece of Heaven." But due to a mistake at the Pinellas Property Appraiser's Office, they won't see any rebates for previous taxes, just a break on future tax bills.
