PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A Calusa Elementary teacher accused of dragging a student on the floor is charged with one count of child abuse.

Pasco County Sheriff's deputies arrested Cynthia Ruth Haring, 60, of Weeki Wachee on Thursday.

According to an arrest report, Haring became irritated in class on Tuesday because several of her students were talking. She grabbed a 10-year-old boy and dragged him about 5 feet on the floor to the spot she wanted him to sit, according to the report.

The boy suffered a 2-inch-long cut on his arm when he was dragged on the floor. Three students who witnessed the incident reported it to the school principal the next day. The witnesses said they were upset by what they saw, the report states.

Deputies arrested Haring Thursday, while she was at a different school, Deer Park Elementary. The arrest report did not say why she was at that school.

Haring was booked into the Land O'Lakes jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.
