Tampa mall shoplifting suspect caught on camera

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Tampa police need your help to find a shoplifting suspect and her accomplice, who helped her escape by brandishing a hammer.

It happened Friday, February 21 at the Macy's department store in Westshore Plaza mall. Surveillance cameras captured a woman with long, dark hair, wearing a blue shirt and sunglasses, stealing purses.

Loss prevention stopped her as she left the store. As she was being handcuffed, the video shows a dark blue Nissan Altima pulling up and popping the trunk. That's when the woman, with one handcuff on, ran and jumped into the front passenger seat.

A man then got out of the driver's seat, grabbed a hammer from the trunk, and told the loss prevention officer "don't try me". The man ripped the tag off the car and drove away with the woman.

You can remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward if you call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).
