UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal Lenoir Co. crash

One person is dead and two others injured after an accident Wednesday morning in Lenoir County.

Highway Patrol confirms the fatal accident along Highway 258, near John Green Smith Road southwest of Kinston around 8:40 a.m. That's near Woodington Middle School.

Lenoir County Emergency Services tells 9 On Your Side three vehicles were involved, a passenger car, a pick-up truck and a dump truck. One victim died at the scene, another was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Highway Patrol tells 9 On Your Side Joseph Shipp III, 27, of Powder Springs, Ga., was killed in the accident. Shipp was driving the Jetta that crossed the center line on Highway 258.

The road reopened just before 2 p.m. The identities of those involved in the accident have not been released.
