TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

For the first time since 1997, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have changed their helmet and logo.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy revealed the new Buccaneers helmet and logo during an in-studio appearance on the NFL Network, alongside Pro Football Hall of Famer and Bucs legend Warren Sapp.

The new helmet has a larger red pirate battle flag, with an angrier-looking pirate skull and crossbones.

"This is an exciting day for the entire Buccaneers organization as we begin the process of introducing our new look by revealing an enhanced logo and new helmet design," said Buccaneers co-chairman Edward Glazer in a press release.

"The enhanced logo is much larger and portrays a more intimidating presence, while the chrome facemask is the first used by an NFL team," Glazer continued.  "This is the first alteration to our logo and helmet since the previous re-design 17 years ago and we believe it sets the stage for our transition into this new, exciting era of Buccaneers football."

Another element unique to the Buccaneers will be a hand-painted shading technique using a darker pewter color that runs vertically from the front of the helmet to the crown and along the earholes, providing a customized look and feel.

The Buccaneers online store also features the new logo and font.

The team’s full uniform ensemble will be revealed at One Buccaneer Place on Wednesday, March 5, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Melanie and Jeffrey Cornwell should have been getting a tax break for years on part of the homestead property in Dunedin they call their "little piece of Heaven." But due to a mistake at the Pinellas Property Appraiser's Office, they won't see any rebates for previous taxes, just a break on future tax bills.
